Solar Inquiry in Room 9

THE SUN
·         Electricity comes from coal, oil or gas and it goes into space and makes the atmosphere warm.
·         The sun is bad for our eyes because it is so hot and strong.
·         The sun is always shining even on cloudy days.
·         Solar panels face North because in New Zealand the sun shines more from the North.
·         Solar panels are black because dark colours soak up light better.
·         The sun looks close but it is 150 million kilometres away from Earth!!
·         If we could drive to the sun it would take 175 years to get there.
·         Planet Earth spins around every 24 hours.
·         The sun is a star.
·         Without the sun the world would be a dark, cold place and plants would not grow.
